The foundation stone of the college was laid down by Padam  Bhushan Prof.(Dr.) Khem Singh Gill, former Vice  Chancellor Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana on Nineteenth day of December, 2005. This  institute is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh and approved by Bar Council of India, New Delhi. It started to impart legal education to girl students for LL.B. 3 years course and five years integrated B.A.LL.B. (Hons) course from the session 2006-07.
G.H.G Institute of Law for Women is only  Women˜s Law College in the state of Punjab. It is located in a rural, pollution free, green and serene environment under the Jagraon tehsil at the side of Ludhiana - Ferozepur National Highway NH-1. It has very good communication facility as it is only 8 kms. away from sub-divisional headquarter i.e. Jagraon.

Drinking water supply is tested periodically for quality checks. Resources such as electricity and water are used economically and care is taken to avoid wastage of these resources.College also has one generator facility to provide power supply in case of power cut.
The college also conduct various seminars, workshops and extension lectures from time to time to make faculty members as well as students aware about general as well as specific field of education. The community service rallies are organised on environment issues, Free Legal Aid, Legal Awareness and other such campaigns to create awareness among people of nearby villages.
Sports facilities equipment/field and gymnasium are available in the campus. the college shares sports stadium with its sister institutes. The college has one Computer Lab. There are seven computers with internet facility.The Wi Fi is available in the campus for internet connectivity.  Students are trained to make optimum use of computer facility to supplement their teaching learning i.e. Power point presentation, Research work, Assignments and Projects. Computer Lab is open during the college hours. Apart from time table, students can access these Labs in there free period or recess also. Faculty Members demonstrate the use of technological resources by using it themselves and further students are also motivated to use these resources.  
Their are established systems and procedure for maintaining and utilizing, physical, academics and support facilities-library, sports complex, computers and classrooms etc. the institution has designed ways and means to optimally utilize the available infrastructure.The building is two storied and facilitate all the infrastructural requirement.
Our institution provides best facilities to the students. It has magnificent building, comprehensive spacious, ventilated and well-furnished Class Rooms with ample natural light, sports facilities (Gymnasium), the recreational facilities like Seminar Hall, Moot Court Hall, Legal Aid Clinic, Computer Lab, Mess, Hostel, Gurudwara Sahib (for religious purposes), Staff Room,  Toilets, Administrative office, Canteen,  and Principal residence in the college campus and all are optimally utilized.
The building is painted in routine. The managing trust had employed electricians, Masons, Laborer, Plumbers and carpenters for the regular maintenance of the infrastructure and gadgets. Annual maintenance contracts are signed by the college for the maintenance of computers, water coolers, CCTV cameras and Wi Fi equipments.
This law college has a very good modern academic library with a collection of 4132 books, journals, magazines, newspapers, CD's and reference books of law and other general subjects. Books are classified according to DDC 19th edition.  Apart from that our college is well-equipped with the latest issues of various law journals, digests and periodicals along with journals of general subjects. Our college library is administered and controlled by a highly qualified librarian along with a library assistant. College Library in charge upgrades library resources, infrastructure and equipments to cater the needs of the users. 
New equipments are purchased as and when required. Purchase Committee plans and executes the task. the college has a library committee as well as Advisory Committee to review the various research proposals, so as to cater the needs of the clientele. The committee held meetings, take decisions regarding upgrading the resources, documents and invited suggestions from the students and teachers for further improvements, if needed. Reference service to the readers is available throughout the year. Efforts are made to display new arrivals in separate cupboards and later on their subsequent subject areas. Library Books are issued to the readers for fourteen days. Students are encouraged in the classes for making use of library resources for seminars, Projects and other such activity.
